Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $57,200 - $61,000
The Community Engagement Coordinator will join a dynamic team of professional and student staff to support and further the mission of the Center for Community Engagement. The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) cultivates partnerships that strengthen communities and develop active and engaged citizens.
This position will provide critical operational and programmatic support to the Center for Community Engagement. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating volunteer and leadership programs, supporting transportation initiatives, supervising student staff and volunteers, maintaining community partnerships, and assisting with events and special projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with campus and community partners to create meaningful community engagement opportunities for students while ensuring high-quality service and program delivery.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate and provide oversight of the impactBING CORE program. This includes recruiting, placing, supporting, and recognizing student volunteers; working with community partners on projects; and providing ongoing support to community-based initiatives.
- Coordinate and provide oversight of the LEAD and BLOOM programs. This includes coordinating student participants, supporting community partnerships, organizing program logistics, and facilitating student leadership and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with administration and promotion of the Foundations of Community Engagement Skills Badge, including supporting student participation, coordinating training, and tracking completion requirements.
- Coordinate transportation services that support volunteer and community engagement activities, including transportation vouchers, centralized transportation requests, scheduling, and related logistics.
- Coordinate and manage budget for transportation initiative for volunteers and interns
- Coordinate hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing support for student mentors participating in the Johnson City Mentor Program.
- Coordinate graduate assistant and student staff orientation and training activities, including onboarding processes and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate annual service initiatives and special projects, including the Salvation Army Angel Tree program and other community engagement activities.
- Work collaboratively with community organizations to understand community priorities, identify partnership opportunities, and connect students to meaningful community-based experiences.
- Assist with event planning, volunteer management, and implementation of special projects and engagement initiatives.
- Represent the Center for Community Engagement at campus and community events, presentations, outreach activities, and tabling opportunities as needed.
- Promote CCE resources, programs, and opportunities to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Work with individual students and student organizations to identify, develop, and implement community-based service and civic engagement projects.
- Occasional evening, night or weekend work may be required if a situation warrants this need.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum one year of relevant professional, paraprofessional, internship, graduate assistantship, or student leadership experience.
- Experience coordinating projects, programs, events, or volunteers.
- Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to community engagement, service, leadership development, or related work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public administration, higher education administration, education, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Experience working with college students in higher education, community-based organizations, or youth-serving settings.
- Experience recruiting, training, or supervising student staff and volunteers.
- Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.
- Event planning and project management experience.
- Familiarity with service-learning, civic engagement, volunteer management, or leadership development programs.
