We are recruiting an Assistant Manager/ Manager for Meetings and Events to join our high caliber team in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

The Opportunity:
The Assistant Manager/ Manager (Americas) for the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) will be responsible for the promotion of Singapore as the choice Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) destination for the Americas. At the direction of the VP Meetings and working with the larger STB Americas MICE team, this individual will be responsible for identifying and securing new events and opportunities for Singapore and developing and executing a marketing and PR plan to raise awareness of Singapore as a top meetings destination. This position will interact with team members in the Singapore Headquarters (HQ). This position will also maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, the media and potential clients to identify new MICE events to bring to Singapore.
The gross annual salary range for this role is from USD73,200 – USD125,000/yr. (min. 6 years of experience).Individual compensation within this range will be determined based on skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and other job-related factors. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
What You Will Be Doing:
1. MICE Business Development - Grow Singapore’s MICE business
- Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of convention and business event opportunities. Serve as the Americas contact across all MICE sectors for accounts headquartered in the Central & Mid-West of the United States.
- Develop relationships with MICE leads and contacts including C-suite executives, Association leaders, Exhibition Organisers and Meeting Planners.
- Structure compelling proposals, lead destination pitches, respond to RFPs and provide timely advice, resource and facilitation support through various STB programmes and initiatives.
- Work with industry partners, venues and government agencies in Singapore to deliver winning bids.
- Maintain account records for all assigned accounts including document appointments, activities and overall account management in the CRM system (currently Salesforce).
- Prepare and submit internal proposals and applications for STB's programmes and initiatives (e.g grants).
- Understand Singapore’s MICE offerings, venues and suppliers and navigate relationships with partners to meet the client’s needs.
- Identify and pursue new partner opportunities (such as partnerships and alliances with industry associations, platforms and third party meeting planners) to grow Singapore’s presence and influence in the Americas region.
- Oversee programs and activities (e.g familarisation trips, roadshows and tradeshows) to increase the awareness of Singapore.
- Develop and lead projects from concept/planning through to evaluation. Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Work with Singapore HQ colleagues to support and execute strategic projects and activations.
2. MICE Marketing & PR - Build Singapore’s profile in the North American meetings industry
- Develop and implement effective marketing, communications and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen Singapore’s destination brand among meeting professionals.
- Manage and ensure alignment of all branding and marketing communications and activations across MICE industry platforms across the US (including PCMA, ASAE, SITE, CEMA).
- Lead the design, build and management of the Singapore Pavilion at IMEX America including related PR & marketing activations.
- Plan and execute innovative marketing ideas, activations and partnerships to grow the destination brand in the North American market.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for speaking engagements, partnerships and sponsorships to enhance destination brand visibility.
- Oversee MICE PR including write press releases, speeches, manage interviews and respond to media queries.
- Build and foster relevant media relationships, including with editors and influencers to ensure growth in brand visibility of Singapore as a veritable host for business events.
- Responsible for the management of third-party agency relationships for execution of strategic digital, marketing & communication plans (e.g PR, digital and media).
- Connect with Singapore HQ marketing and communication colleagues as necessary and support HQ comms team to execute PR & marketing campaigns in-market
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What You Need For This Position
- At least 3 to 4 years of travel/events related experience in the MICE industry; destination marketing is a plus!
- Relationships within the MICE industry
- Outside-the-box thinking to attract new business
- Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management skills and a love for processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter and decisive yet knows when to approach senior staff when needed
- Always thinking about the bigger picture and how to position Singapore better
- Demonstrate and develop presentation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to spot relevant trends and insights and share with the team
- Willingness to travel and staff evening and weekend events from time to time
- Experience working in a global team across multiple time zones and cultures
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
Additional Information:
- Work alongside other Meeting & Events team members and report to VP, Meetings and Leisure Trade, as part of the STB San Francisco team reporting to SVP, Americas based in New York.

- Based in San Mateo, CA
- Travel required (35- 50%) in the U.S and/or Singapore
