Scope of Responsibilities
Serves in a leadership position to promote Duke University as a venue for a variety of academic and non-academic summer conferences and programs; oversees all programs and services related to summer conferences; oversees all external programs and services during the academic year; coordinates the provision of a wide range of services required to support a successful summer conference experience. Direct supervision of the conference staff, including full time, part time and student employees.
Duties
• Responsible for structuring summer conferences and external program activities to enhance Duke University’s ability to capitalize on market opportunities to increase revenues and to promote the University as a venue for summer conferences and programs, including a comprehensive marketing plan to promote Duke University as a venue for summer conferences and programs.- 30%
• Establish strong partnerships with the University’s academic departments that provide programs during the summer months and other University departments that are necessary to support a successful summer conference and program experience including housing facilities, dining / catering services, meeting spaces, audio visual and information / technology capabilities.- 20%
• Become familiar with community resources that can be tapped to further enhance the University’s reputation as a desirable summer conference and program host.- 20%
• Provide effective supervision of staff and student workers assigned to this department, including training, establishment of goals and objectives, performance coaching and evaluation.
• Provide management of annual budget, monitor expenditures, insure compliance with university accounting and financial policies and procedures. – 20%
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.-10%

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, organizational and communication skills generally acquired through completion of a master's degree program.
Experience
Work generally requires four years experience in personnel, college or university administration, or a related field to acquire skills necessary to provide program management, advising and general administrative support. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
