Capital Campaign Coordinator (Seattle, WA)         

Full-Time (40 hours per week), Salary/Exempt

Yearlong (12-month) Work Schedule 

Compensation is based on experience

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Development Department as the Capital Campaign Coordinator.  We are seeking a candidate who will support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency.  We are building a team in which diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are valued in order to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and families. Beginning in summer 2022, The Bush School will embark on a capital campaign in support of a new Commons dining area, a new wing of the Middle School, and increased support for the endowment. Bush conducted a feasibility study from January to June 2022 that resulted in support to move forward with these priorities.

The campaign builds on the momentum of a successful capital campaign which raised $17 million in philanthropic support, resulting in a New Upper School Building that opened to the Bush community in May 2022. 

This position reports to the Associate Director of Development (ADOD) and provides administrative and project management assistance to properly execute the duties and tasks related to the capital campaign. This position works closely with the school’s Development Department and campaign consultants, as well as volunteers, staff, faculty and community members. The Bush Development Team is comprised of nine full-time employees (including this position). The team is dynamic, collaborative, and present in the school community. 

While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to execute on the following key responsibilities and tasks:

Campaign Database Coordination

  • Support the Development team in successful execution of the capital campaign
  • Assist ADOD to document pipeline and task assignments, track prospects, and maintain timelines
  • Enter solicitations and other proposal information in database
  • Run campaign progress reports
  • Enter notes to track conversations and meetings
  • Work with Database Manager to ensure campaign gifts and pledges are acknowledged, tracked, and entered. Partner with ADOD and Database Manager on pledge reminders and pledge agreements
  • With ADOD, analyze donor giving patterns to increase donor retention, upgrading, and conversion rates
  • Perform special projects, as assigned 

Communications 

  • Work with contracted vendors on production of print materials 
  • Assist with gift proposals
  • Distribute invitations, announcements, and other campaign communications

Events Coordination

  • Assist with all aspects of the capital campaign events including:
    • Major gift phase events begin in 23-24 school year, we anticipate 2 events per month
    • Public Phase Launch Event
    • Site Tours  

Experience and Professional Competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required 
  • Two or more years of work experience on a Development team required, experience working on a capital campaign preferred 
  • Experience working with Raiser’s Edge database preferred
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of online communication and research tools
  • Ability to function independently and in collaboration with staff, Trustees, and volunteers 
  • Strong writing skills and/or familiarity with the principles of storytelling across various mediums
  • Customer service orientation required
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required

Additional Requirements:

  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
  • Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
  • Meet the school’s COVID vaccination requirements. The Bush School is committed to providing a safe environment and campus for students, employees and visitors alike.
